The Garden of Mughal Queens — Three Emeralds, One Eternal Band

A breathtaking triple emerald white enamel Mughal scroll wide band ring by Kala Johare, inspired by Zumurrud — the Persian word for emerald, the stone of paradise, prophecy, and eternal green. The Zumurrud Ring is a grand wide band ring — three emerald-cut natural emeralds in open yellow gold claw settings, set across a wide white meenakari enamel centre band of hand-painted Mughal scrollwork, framed above and below by dark maroon enamel cross-pattern border bands, and finished with an open triangle lattice inner framework — all handcrafted in 18K yellow gold.

Craft & Gold
Handcrafted in 18K yellow gold — the warm, commanding gold that frames the natural emeralds and the white meenakari enamel in the ancient Mughal tradition. The wide band is a three-layer architectural composition: a wide centre band of white meenakari enamel, hand-painted with intricate Mughal scrollwork arabesques in yellow gold; flanked above and below by narrow border bands of dark maroon enamel with a continuous gold cross-flower pattern — a motif found in the finest Mughal jewellery of the 16th and 17th centuries. The inner band features an open triangle lattice framework — a geometric pattern of interlocking triangles that reduces weight while adding extraordinary visual depth. The back view reveals the full open triangle lattice and the warm glow of the yellow gold inner band.

Stones That Speak
Three natural emerald-cut emeralds of vivid, deep green are set in open yellow gold claw settings across the centre of the white enamel band — a large centre emerald flanked by two slightly smaller emeralds on either side. The emerald-cut — a rectangular step-cut with cropped corners — is the most classic and historically significant cut for emeralds, maximising the depth and richness of their colour. In the Mughal tradition, the emerald was the stone of paradise — the green of the garden of heaven — and was prized above all other coloured stones. The open claw settings allow light to pass through the emeralds from all angles, illuminating their extraordinary depth of colour against the white enamel background.
