The Peacock's Feather — A Thousand Polki Diamonds, One Imperial Crown

A breathtaking grand double-strand polki emerald peacock pendant long necklace by Kala Johare, inspired by Morpankh — the peacock feather, the most sacred adornment of Lord Krishna, whose iridescent eye of green and gold has inspired the finest Mughal jewellers for centuries. The Morpankh Necklace is a grand long bridal necklace — two continuous strands of pear-shaped polki diamond links, each framed in vivid green emerald enamel and full diamond pave in oxidised gold, connected at the shoulders by two large hand-engraved peacock motif clasps, cascading to a massive grand circular polki pendant with a large pear polki centre, concentric rings of polki diamonds and emerald cabochons, and seven cascading South Sea pearl drops — all handcrafted in 18K two-tone gold with oxidised silver detailing.

Craft & Gold
Handcrafted in 18K two-tone gold with oxidised silver detailing — yellow gold for the polki bezels and emerald enamel frames; oxidised silver for the diamond pave link borders and the grand pendant framework. The double-strand chain is a masterpiece of continuous polki and emerald composition — approximately 40 pear-shaped polki diamond links per strand (80 total), each individually set with a natural polki diamond in a yellow gold bezel at the centre, surrounded by a vivid green emerald enamel scallop border, and framed by a full diamond pave outer border in oxidised silver. The two strands run parallel from the back clasp to the shoulder, where they are gathered and separated by two large hand-engraved peacock motif clasps — each peacock individually formed in 22K gold with a polki diamond eye, spread tail feathers in diamond pave, and emerald cabochon accents — before cascading as a double strand to the grand pendant. The grand circular pendant is an architectural masterpiece of extraordinary scale — a large circular form in oxidised gold, its surface covered in concentric rings of natural polki diamonds in yellow gold bezels, emerald cabochon accents, and full diamond pave of brilliant round diamonds in oxidised silver, centred with a very large pear-shaped polki diamond in a prominent yellow gold bezel. Seven cascading drops hang from the base of the pendant — each drop a polki diamond accent above a large natural South Sea pearl, creating a grand fringe of seven pearl drops of graduated size.

Stones That Speak
Approximately 80 natural polki diamonds — flat, uncut, and set in individual yellow gold bezels in the ancient Mughal tradition — form the continuous double-strand chain, their combined soft living glow creating an extraordinary river of polki light from shoulder to shoulder. A very large pear-shaped natural polki diamond of exceptional size and presence sits at the heart of the grand pendant — the defining stone of the entire composition. Surrounding it, concentric rings of smaller natural polki diamonds in yellow gold bezels and vivid green emerald cabochons create a continuous composition of polki and emerald that radiates outward from the centre like the eye of a peacock feather. The full diamond pave of brilliant round diamonds in oxidised silver covers the entire pendant framework — hundreds of brilliant round diamonds creating a continuous shimmer of white diamond brilliance. The vivid green emerald enamel borders of the chain links echo the emerald cabochons of the pendant, creating a unified colour palette of green and white across the entire necklace. The seven South Sea pearl drops — large, round, and of exceptional cream-white lustre — provide a luminous, regal finale to the composition.
