Two Faces of Royalty — Polki Kundan by Day, Temple Gold by Night

A breathtaking grand reversible polki kundan temple gold mango rivière necklace by Kala Johare, inspired by Amrapali — the legendary courtesan of the Magadha court whose beauty and grace were spoken of across the ancient world, and whose name means the guardian of the mango grove. The Amrapali Necklace is a grand reversible bridal necklace — one side a polki kundan mango rivière of extraordinary beauty; the other side a pure 22K temple gold repoussé mango rivière of extraordinary grandeur — two complete necklaces in one, connected by a traditional 22K gold mesh rope chain with adjustable clasp.

The Polki Kundan Side
The front face of the Amrapali Necklace is a classic Mughal polki kundan mango rivière — approximately 18 graduated mango-form links, each individually set with a large natural polki diamond in a kundan foil setting at the centre, surrounded by a full border of smaller polki diamonds and pink meenakari enamel petal accents in 22K yellow gold. The links graduate in size from small at the shoulders to large at the centre, creating the classic cascading mango form of the finest Mughal jewellery. The grand central pendant is a wide fan-form composition of three large polki kundan mango links arranged in a crown, with a large oval polki diamond at the centre, surrounded by polki and kundan accents, and finished with a cascading fringe of seven natural South Sea pearl drops on delicate gold chains. The 22K gold mesh rope chain connects the two ends of the mango rivière at the back of the neck with an adjustable ring clasp.

The Temple Gold Side
The reverse face of the Amrapali Necklace is a pure 22K temple gold repoussé mango rivière — the same approximately 18 graduated mango-form links, each individually hand-repousséd in 22K yellow gold with intricate floral and foliate scrollwork arabesques in the South Indian temple jewellery tradition. Each link is a miniature masterpiece of the goldsmith's art — the deep, warm yellow of 22K gold glowing with extraordinary richness. The grand central pendant on the reverse side is a wide fan-form Lakshmi pendant — the goddess of prosperity and beauty rendered in full repoussé 22K gold, surrounded by scrollwork arabesques, with the same seven South Sea pearl drops cascading from the base. The same 22K gold mesh rope chain connects both sides at the back.

Style & Occasions
The Amrapali Necklace is the ultimate grand reversible bridal necklace — a piece that gives the bride two complete looks for two different occasions. Wear the polki kundan side for the wedding ceremony — its soft polki light and pink meenakari the perfect complement to a bridal lehenga. Flip to the temple gold side for the reception or sangeet — its deep 22K gold glow the perfect complement to a silk saree or a gold tissue lehenga. Perfect for weddings, engagements, galas, and any occasion where extraordinary craftsmanship and the versatility of two necklaces in one are required.

Comfort & Feel
The graduated mango links sit comfortably on the collarbone and chest, each link individually articulated to move naturally with the body. The 22K gold mesh rope chain is lightweight and flexible. The adjustable ring clasp allows the necklace to be worn at two different lengths. Each polki diamond, kundan setting, and South Sea pearl is individually set and checked for security before leaving our atelier.

Why Choose This Necklace?
The reversible mango rivière — polki kundan on one side, temple gold repoussé on the other — is one of the most extraordinary and historically significant jewellery forms in the Mughal-Rajput tradition. The Amrapali Necklace is a collector's piece of the highest order — a necklace that carries the soul of two great jewellery traditions into the modern luxury world. Every stone and pearl is natural and genuine. No imitation. No artificial stones.
